My across-the-hall neighbor got a Tahoe a little while back. It is...not small.

Now you HAVE to get an Isetta.

I always park in backwards in parking garages. It makes life easier when you leave, especially if you have to leave in a hurry.

More like Peel P50.

I dunno, Isettas are really damn cool...

Sure they are, but if his neighbor's going to get a huge car and he's going for a small one, he might as well go for gold.

But his neighbor didn't go for the biggest car, that's not a Suburban, is it?!

And takes twice as long when you're parking.

At the rate BMWs are growing, this might not be true forever. The 5 is the new 7, the 3 is the new 5, the 1 is the new 3. The 7 is the new giant.

The 2-series isn't much bigger than the 1-series though.
![]() 08/11/2014 at 23:12 |

Now let's compare the 2 to an E46 3-series coupe:
Weight: 3285/3362 m/at
Wheelbase: 107.3
Length: 176.7
Width: 69.2
Height: 53.9
The gap between the 1 and the 2 is about the same as the gap to the 2 and the old 3. Give it another generation and the 2 will probably be close to the E92.

Not that much longer.

If it takes you that much longer to back into a spot, it's time for some more practice.

It's mostly because of that pillar. Backing in requires driving past the spot and making sure to not hit the pillar. Parking normally is a one-shot affair because my car is small enough to make it in one pass without readjusting.

I should go-pro my parking adventures at work. Half the time I end up backing into the lot from the street so I can get to a spot that I can actually get out of it.
I've gotten my car into and out of some impressive parking scenarios, pillars are just a part of life. Do it often enough, and you wont even have to check anymore, you'll just know.

I'm perfectly happy pulling forward into my spot.

but it's so dangerous backing your baby out!

There's plenty of room to go straight back and cut the wheel once I'm well clear of the pillar.

but the crazies that come out of nowhere cannot be trusted
(not mine, thank god) nailed while backing out of a spot. You'd think there would be enough car to notice...

It's not a particularly large or busy parking garage.

Backing in is more fun.
